I am one of those people with big ideas and a busy brain that is constantly on the go.

While the long-term solutions for dealing with overwhelm are more related to mindset shifts, exploring your sense of self and understanding your relationship with stressful situations and anxiety, sometimes you need a short-term solution that works right now.

This is often me, so I’ve curated a collection of things that I do when I need to deal with a general sense of being overwhelmed quickly. If you cannot kick that feeling of overwhelm and need to move past it right now, these are the eight things that I typically try:

#1. Go for a walk

If I am feeling overwhelmed, frustrated or really any off-feeling, my go-to move is to go for a walk. Getting on my feet and away from the computer takes me away from the immediate situation and helps me clear my head.

I typically go one step further and give myself a minimum requirement of how long I need to be gone. I set the timer on my watch for somewhere between 30 and 45 minutes, which tends to be sufficient time for me to unwind.
