If You Learn Nothing Else About Marketing Learn This
People might want your solution, but they don’t want to work hard to find it
I was on my morning walk this week when I came across a poster advertising a new album from a local band. It took me about two seconds to realize the poster was missing the most important thing: information on how to actually find and listen to their music.
Sure, they had the logos for all of the most popular social media channels — Twitter, Facebook, Instagram — but no handles. They had all of the logos for the most popular music playing apps, but no information on where you would find their music on it. They also had the name of their band and their album, but you couldn’t tell which was which. Nor did they have a website.
Could I, as an average human being with internet knowledge find their stuff? Yes, of course, because I did (so I could kindly reach out and let them know that any future poster prints should include a website). But that’s not the point.
The point is: if you do not make it easy for people to find your stuff, your marketing will not work. Full stop.
