What Makes A Great Piece Of Content?

Content is king, but how do you do it right?

Anyone can write a blog post, throw up a tweet or even publish on Medium. With that much competition out there, it’s increasingly important that your content is good.

But what makes good content? And how can you make your content stand out?

Your content needs to be original

Ignoring all the search engine and analytical reasons why this is important — which you shouldn’t do, but I am for the purposes of this particular article — if someone has already read the piece of content somewhere else, it doesn’t really add value to them.

Original content doesn’t mean you can’t talk about popular topics. On the contrary, you’ll probably want to be talking about popular topics because that’s what your readers want (let’s be honest, they’re popular because people want to read about them).

But making original content on popular topics means talking about it in your own voice, with your own spin and looking at it through your own eyes. At the end of the day, you’re writing the content so put yourself into it!
